What is NAP and why does it need to be consistent?

NAP is your business Name, Address, and Phone number. Google cross-checks the same NAP across the directories it can find to confirm your business is real and located where you say it is. When your address is formatted differently on different sites, that's a weaker signal — and it's the single most common local SEO problem.

Does inconsistent NAP actually hurt my Google rankings?

Indirectly. Google doesn't penalize you for it like spam, but inconsistent NAP makes your business harder to confirm as a single trustworthy entity, which weakens local ranking signals like the Local Pack and Maps results.

Is Citation Manager actually free, or is that a trial?
